What’s The Buzz?Covina Chamber of Commerce Dear Mr. Parrish: The Board of Directors of the Covina Chamber of Commerce is pleased to endorse the City of Covina’s application for recognition of the “Shop Covina” Program. “Shop Covina” is an economic development program designed to encourage consumers, especially those that live in Covina and neighboring areas, to shop in Covina in support of the local economy. This program additionally promotes Covina’s retail businesses within the city’s redevelopment project area. It asks consumers to consider the types of goods and services that are available locally and encourages them to make purchases in Covina to support local businesses, jobs and infrastructure. “Shop Covina” is an innovative program that equally benefits local businesses, consumers and city government. It features a user-friendly website- www.ShopCovina.org -that serves as a centralized source for consumers to find all of their purchasing needs in Covina. The website also allows retail businesses to advertise and promote their wares by posting easily accessible information and sales promotions for customers. Through “Shop Covina:” 1.) Consumers have immediate access to great local bargains, saving them time and gas. 2.) Businesses obtain free advertising and exposure to special promotions and 3.) The city garners additional tax revenue generated from increased local sales. “Shop Covina” is truly a local partnership from which the entire community benefits. The Covina Chamber of Commerce is proud of the exemplary relationship it enjoys with the City of Covina. The Covina Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors interacts positively and consistently with city leaders and staff through a host of economic development forums, wherein the sharing of ideas and concerns leads to consensus building toward effectively addressing Covina’s most substantive economic issues. “Shop Covina” is an ideal example of the collaborative efforts of the City of Covina and the Covina Chamber of Commerce toward common economic improvement and development goals.
