What’s The Buzz?Kimco Realty July 28, 2010 Re: Lowes — Covina Town Square Dear Mr. Parrish: I am writing this letter in appreciation for all of the assistance provided to our company as we worked through the lengthy negotiation process to bring a new big box format retail user to our regional shopping center in Covina at the southeast corner of Azusa Avenue and Arrow Highway. The City was receptive and open to conversations with our company as we entertained early prospects for the site, and extremely helpful when we narrowed our choice to Lowe’s. City staff met with our group and representatives from Lowe’s to discuss issues that were of concern to Lowe’s such as foliage which blocked the view to the retail site, additional signage requested by Lowe’s and last minute utility easements in order to commence construction. These issues were resolved with the help of City staff to Lowe’s satisfaction. When it was decided that the existing building would not work for Lowe’s needs, and talks centered on demolition and water run-off drainage in accordance with state law, City departments were accessible for discussion and meetings to decide the best way to meet the requirements. The most recent hurdle which we overcame was the resolution of the electrical service. Again, City staff coordinated meetings with Southern California Edison to find the best way to meet everyone’s needs in the most timely manner. Please accept our thanks and appreciation to the Public Works Department, which includes Engineering, Building and Environmental as well as to Community Development/Planning, and Redevelopment/Economic Development. Everyone played a part in making this project come about and we truly appreciate everyone’s cooperation and assistance. We look forward to the completion of the new Lowe’s Covina in early December, 2010 and the Grand Opening to celebrate new business bringing jobs to Covina. Sincerely, Mina C.
